A great weekend of cycling on the Southern Gold Coast, the Kirra Criterium Classic and the Tour de Valley Festival, cycling challenges are taking place 20 & 21 October.

The 11th Pan Pacific Masters Games will be held 2 – 11 November 2018 on the Gold Coast over several fabulous venues.

More than 13,000 athletes from over 30 countries will converge on the Gold Coast to compete in the world’s biggest and best biennial masters games. Participants compete in their age group with no qualifying standards or times to enter. The only criterion for entry is a minimum age for each sport, which for the majority is 30 years of age.

The Pan Pacific Masters Games will showcase competition in more than 40 sports at first class sporting facilities and feature a jam-packed nightly entertainment program at the Games Village.

David Fleay Wildlife Park

Take a walk on the wild side to David Fleay Wildlife Park, set amongst rainforest and open eucalypt forest just minutes from Burleigh Heads.

The Wildlife Park has been showcasing Australia’s amazing wildlife in beautiful habitat-inspired surrounds since its establishment in 1951, by renowned naturalist Dr David Fleay.

Take your time and wander along a network of boardwalks and paths in the park, winding through wetlands, rainforest and open eucalypt forest. You’re extremely likely to discover platypus, cassowaries, tree-kangaroos, crocodiles and more.

Then take the time to visit the nocturnal house to get up close and personal with rarely-seen creatures of the night, such as mahogany gliders, greater bilbies and Julia Creek dunnarts.

You can explore the park at your own pace, or join one of the daily ranger-led wildlife presentations. Reconnect with nature through their stories, and be thrilled as animals swoop, jump, slither and glide around you.

SkyPoint Climb @ Q1 Tower
Climb atop Australia’s highest external building and one of Queensland’s most recognised land marks, the Q1 Tower with SkyPoint Climb. Rising to an impressive 270 metres the SkyPoint Climb rewards you with sweeping views of the Gold Coast region, over the coastline and to the Hinterland.

Before you can embark on your ascent up the tower, you must undergo a safety briefing and you’ll be fitted with a protective suit, a full body harness and full-arrest device to maximise your safety.

The next stop on the adventure is the launch platform located on level 77 at a height of 240 metres above street level, and after one final safety check you’ll soon be on your way up the tower. The length of the climb reaches around 50 metres and the peak is reached via a purpose built stairway. The peak of the climb sits at a towering 270 metres above sea level and provides climbers with uninterrupted, 360 degree views of the greater Gold Coast region – a truly unique view.

Get your heart racing at the fastest and loudest weekend the Gold Coast! The Vodafone Gold Coast 600 is revving up the streets of Surfers Paradise over the weekend from 19 to 21 October.

Queensland’s premier sporting event will feature the following:

The Vodafone Gold Coast 600 circuit sees the track cover 2.96km. The layout allows for better spectacle, providing fans with great on-track action and entertainment value.

Relax in comfort with music, bars, food stalls, seating, tables and shade around the track. A big screen will ensure you won’t miss a moment of the action.

When: 6 & 7 October, 2018
Where: Gold Coast Beaches

One of the most challenging endurance events in surf sports, the Coolangatta Gold is taking place over two days on 6 and 7 October.

The gruelling 41.8km long course that covers the Gold Coast strip from Coolangatta to Broadbeach, comprises of a 23km surf ski, 2.1km run, 3.5km swim, 6.1km paddle board and then a 7.1km run to the finish line.

Otherwise their is a short course, that is half the Coolangatta Gold distance at 21km available for everyday endurance athletes. This new look course includes all legs arriving in and out of Coolangatta Beach.

This event is the ultimate test for surf sport athletes and will push them to their limit. There are events for individual ironmen and ironwomen from under 19 to 50+ or teams.

There is also a Youth Challenge event for under 11’s to under 16’s who are up for a challenge and keen to be part of the main event experience. The course consists of a 300m soft sand run, a 400m swim, 400m run, 500m board and then a 50m run to conclude at the elite finish arch.

Burleigh Heads Beach is a transition point for the long course event with the paddle board event ending and the swim leg starting and finishing in the sparkling waters off Burleigh Heads. It is the ideal spot to watch some of these incredible athletes compete.
