Firstly the Burleigh Heads location is very central. It’s halfway between Coolangatta and Southport, making each destination an excellent day trip. Of course Surfers Paradise is always on the top of the list when it comes to the Gold Coast street culture and night life. Even Broadbeach and the charms of Jupiters Casino are accessible from Burleigh Heads. Yes, the Gold Coast has something for everyone, and Burleigh Heads makes those places very accessible.

Even surfers will find Burleigh Heads an attractive destination with most locals favouring the Tallebudgera rivermouth to the south and paddle up to the point on Burleigh Heads. Not as crowded as Kirra can be, but Burleigh Heads can often have barrels that will take you on a ride long enough to make your legs ache.

Gold Coast Family Holidays

Families on their Gold Coast holiday will find the beach in front of the esplanade worth exploring. There’s lots of shade under the Norfolk Pines and Pandanus trees and public dining and BBQ facilities nearby. The Mowbray Park Surf Club is always worth a casual visit for either breakfast, lunch or dinner and the shopping village on the point also has several places to eat, if you hadn’t already packed a picnic or bought the BBQ on your trip to the park at Burleigh Heads. What finer place to dine than al fresco with the sea breeze and Coral Sea views.

Then again if you haven’t had enough BBQ then there several smashing BBQ-themed restaurants nearby to sample. The Char Baa Restaurant is nearby on the Esplanade, Lester and Earl on Palm Beach, just 4 kilometers away and the Korean Charcoal BBQ Restaurant or Fire Cue Bar and Grill in Mermaid Beach — another beach along. Hungry yet?
