Welcome to Winter! But do we really experience Winter here on the Gold Coast? With the day time temperatures still on average 21-22 degrees and the sea water temperature around the same, it’s not exactly Winter!
Say goodbye to the chilly weather in the southern states and head to Burleigh Heads for a Gold Coast Winter Holiday, where the sun shines all year round. Begin packing your bags and gain some inspiration for some Winter activities you can participate in during your Gold Coast holiday.
Hundreds of Humpback Whales migrate past the Gold Coast every Winter, so find a viewing point along the coastline, like Burleigh Headland and watch these majestic creatures perform acrobatics. Otherwise get up close and personal with the giants of the sea on a Gold Coast Whale Watching Cruise.
Every season is surfing season on the Gold Coast and Winter is no exception! The surf is generally a lot calmer during the Winter months with less swell, so it’s ideal for beginners. Sign up for a lesson if it’s your first time, or bring a wet suit to hit the waves with a friend and your favourite board.
The cooler temperatures during Winter is perfect for walking, hiking or cycling. Start with the well-signed Gold Coast Oceanway and follow the path along the long strip of the coast admiring the views as you go. Walk to Burleigh Headland and do the rainforest walk up to the top of the headland for magnificent views of the beaches to the south and Tallebudgera Estuary.
Winter is also the perfect time to play Lawn Bowls. Burleigh Heads Bowls Club is located a stones throw away from the picturesque Burleigh Heads beach. Given the fantastic location, the club runs one of the most successful and popular social bowls programs in the area on it’s two grass greens and one synthetic four rink green.
